Ever since the Minelab Vanquish was released there has been speculation about the USB port that is visible from the battery compartment. Minelab has never said what this port is for…until now.
I have been in touch with Minelab USA and they have confirmed that the USB port is for future software updates and that these can be performed by the user. So no need to go to a store or send your machine off.
What exactly they would need to update is not sure. The Vanquish is an excellent machine straight out of the box. The only possible improvements I can think of would be to the iron bias settings. These are fixed on “high” for the 340 and 440 but the 540 has a choice of ‘low’ or ‘high’ settings. Perhaps add the ‘Low’ setting to the 340 & 440?
We will keep you updated as we know more.
